Conservation Planning and Outreach
for
Horse Farms

Montgomery County has an Equine Resource Conservationist who works specifically with owners of horse farms and facilities. If you own or operate a horse farm in Montgomery County and are interested in learning more about conservation planning on your farm, please contact Eddie Franceschi.

Horse farms typically have a lot to manage, including animal waste, reseeding or renovating pastures, and providing water to animals. The Montgomery Soil Conservation District is available to help you address these and other challenges you may be facing on your farm.

The Montgomery Soil Conservation District partners with the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension to conduct equine outreach seminars in the county. Past seminars have included topics such as heavy use areas, rotational grazing, pasture plant identification, setting up an electric fence, and parasites of horses. If you are interested in attending a future seminar, or have suggestions for topics to include in a future seminar, please contact us.
