Critical Area Planting

Critical areas on the farm are those where soils are highly erodible or areas that are already experiencing critical erosion. These areas might include conservation structures, embankments, cuts, fills, and filter strips. By planting vegetation such as trees, shrubs, and grasses in these areas, the erosion can be reduced and water quality flowing out of the area will be improved. In addition, these areas can serve to improve wildlife habitat and the aesthetic values of the property.
