DEER DONATION BOX IN LAYTONSVILLEThe Deer Donation Program was created to provide farmers and hunters with a means for managing the extra deer they harvest. It is administered in partnership with Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH), a non-profit food ministry organization that coordinates the collection, processing, and donation of venison to the nation’s hungry. Most of the deer donated through this program end up feeding the hungry right here in Montgomery County. FHFH estimates that one deer can provide meals for 200 people. Increased farmer and hunter interest and participation has prompted the county to open a new donation site in Laytonsville. In addition to the donation facility in Poolesville, the County has placed a cold box at Seneca Ayr Farm, on Rte 108 north of Laytonsville for this fall. Please call Scott Poffenberger 240-446-1359 for instructions on donating deer at the Poolesville location or Tom Linthicum at 240-398-0122 for the Laytonsville location. Please call Mon.-Sat. between 7am-5pm for Poolesville and 9am-6:30pm for Laytonsville. Deer drop-offs are by appointment only.
