DiversionsDiversions are channels, constructed across a slope with a supporting ridge on the lower side, which redirect water flow on sloping areas of a farm. These structures can be used to break up concentrations of flow on long slopes, divert water away from farmsteads and agricultural waste systems, collect water for later use, and reduce erosion on fields and other areas. It is necessary for diversions to have stable outlets made of permanent grass, stone, or erosion-resistant linings so that the redirected flow will not cause damage. The diversion should not be used as a livestock or farm machinery travel lane. |
