Fences

Fences have many applications for conservation planning. Often they are used to restrict animals from entering environmentally sensitive areas. Livestock can be kept from disturbing streams and wetlands that run through their pastures while still having access to water via troughs placed within the grazing area.

Not only will this improve the water quality running through the pasture, it can improve the aesthetics of the area by promoting the growth, health and abundance of streamside vegetation. Fences are also used to keep animals out of newly planted conservation areas and can be incorporated into a prescribed grazing plan to subdivide pastures for rotational grazing.
