Our Events

The Montgomery Soil Conservation District offers pasture walks and equine workshops throughout the year and is involved in Envirothon, Close Encounters with Agriculture, and other County events year round. Find an upcoming event on our calendar or browse the list below.

Pasture Walks & Equine Workshops

Horse Management Workshop

 

Learn to sample soil and hay and to interpret the results.

 

Topics include:

  • Forage production and analysis

  • Nutrient management updates

  • New heavy use area technologies

  • Herbal pastures for improved horse health

Cooperators Dinner

This an annual event that is hosted by MSCD and held in a participating cooperator facility to honor cooperators for their good stewardship and conservation practices.

The 2023 event was held at Lone Oak Brewing on September 19, 2023.

Envirothon

The Montgomery Soil Conservation District has been involved with this program for more than 16 years. Over the past few years, teams from Montgomery County have won the state competition and participated in the international event.


Close Encounters with Agriculture

Close Encounters with Agriculture is an award-winning program offered each year to Montgomery County fourth grade students. Since 1993, over 60,000 students have participated in this hands-on educational program designed to teach students about modern agriculture, maintaining a healthy environment and leading a healthy lifestyle.

The 2021 program will take place weekdays in October.
